A mass of 7 kg is pulled by mass of 3 kg on a frictionless surface through pully as shown. If the length of wire connecting both is 2 m and is made of copper (Y=1.2 x1011 N/m2] of crossection area 0.001 m2. Find the elongation produced in the wire.

Force on the wire =mg=100N

Stress (σ)= F/A = 100/ 4×10 −6

=25×10^6 pa
