Answer:

The weight of man is 72 Kg and he is standing on a board inclined at 200 with the horizontal.

From the figure, it is clear that,

The component of man’s weight perpendicular to the board is

F

=mgcosθ

F

=72cos(20)

The component of man’s weight parallel to the board is

F

=mgsinθ

F

=72sin(20)

Given:

✰ Mass, m = 72 kg

✰ The resting board inclined at θ = 20° with horizontal.

To find:

✠ The component of mass normal i.e, perpendicular to the board.

✠ The component of mass parallel to the board.

Solution:

❖ First draw the diagram as provided in the attachment. The diagram given is a free body diagram. It is a graphical illustration to visualise the forces acting on the object, moments, angles made by it, etc. Information about force it's magnitude and direction is also given. t

The weight of the body is the product of mass and acceleration due to gravity which is acting on it. Then find the weight perpendicular to the board after that the component of mass parallel to the board. Thus, we will get both the components.

We have,

✰ Mass, m = 72 kg

✰ The resting board inclined at θ = 20° with horizontal

Refer the attachment,

➤ F⟂ = mg cosθ

➤ F⟂ = 72 cos ( 20° )

➤ F⟂ = 67.66 N

The component of mass normal i.e, perpendicular to the board = 67.66 N

➤ F|| = mg sinθ

➤ F|| = 72 sinθ

➤ F|| = 24.63 N

The component of mass parallel to the board = 24.63 N
