A mass of lead is embedded in a block of aluminium(2mm thick). Radiations from a radioactive source incident on the side of the block preduce a shadow on a fluorescent screen placed beyond the block . The shadow of the block of aluminium is faintervthan the shadow of lead. Give reason for this difference.

This is because Lead is a high density metal and Aluminium is a Low density metal.
A radioactive source emits Gamma radiations which attenuate more in high density media compared to low density ones. Hence the Shadow of Lead is Darker and the shadow of the Aluminium is fainter.
