answer : option (4) 1.25 m

explanation : initial speed of particle , u = 5m/s

final speed of particle, v = 0

after breaking the string, acceleration acting on particle = acceleration due to gravity. i.e., a = g

using formula, v² = u² - 2gh

or, 0 = (5)² - 2 × 10 × h

or, h = 25/20 = 1.25 m

hence, the mass will reach a height above point P of nearby 1.25m
