Matchstick lights up because - (b) frictional heat.

The coating on matchstick and match box is of phosphorus. Due to friction on rubbing the both, heat is produced which with phosphorus and air produces spark.

The heat ignites potassium chlorate. It is an oxidizing agent and hence burns into flame. Friction is produced only on rough surface, not on smooth surface.
