Correct Question:-

A matchbox measures 4 cm × 2.5 cm × 1.5 cm. What will be the volume of a packet containing 12 such boxes.

Given:-

  • Dimensions of the matchbox = 4 cm × 2.5 cm × 1.5 cm

To find:-

  • What will be the volume of a packet containing 12 such boxes.

Solution:-

Firstly we are given with the dimensions of one matchbox. So we'll first find the volume of one matchbox.

Length of matchbox = 4 cm

Breadth of matchbox = 2.5 cm

Height of matchbox = 1.5 cm

We know,

Volume of a cuboid = (Length × Breadth × Height) cu.units.

Hence,

Volume of one matchbox = 4 × 2.5 × 1.5

Volume = 10 × 1.5 = 15 cm³

Hence,

The volume of 15 cm³

Now,

If we find the volume of 12 boxes we'll get the volume of the packet which will contain the 12 matchboxes.

Volume of 1 matchbox = 15 cm³

Volume of 12 matchboxes = 15 × 12

Volume of 12 matchboxes = 180 cm³

Hence, the volume of the packet containing 12 such matchboxes will be 180 cm³

Formula used:-

  • Volume of cuboid = (Length × Breadth × Height) cu.unitd

Some other formulas related to cuboid:-

  • Total Surface Area (TSA) of the cuboid = 2[(Length × Breadth) + (Breadth × Height) + (Height × Length)] sq.units

  • Curved Surface Area (CSA) of the cuboid = [2(Length + Breadth) × Height] sq.units.
