A medical laboratory has made a capsule of length 14mm and a width of 5mm. It is in the shape of a cylinder with two hemisphere stuck to each of its ends. Find its volume

Solution:-

Length of the entire capsule = 14 mm
Diameter = 5 mm (It should be diameter, not the width.)
Radius = 5/2 = 2.5 mm
Height of the cylindrical part = 14 - 5 = 9 mm

Now,
Volume of the cylindrical part = πr²h
Volume of two hemispherical parts = 2*2/3πr³

Total volume of the capsule = πr²h + 2*2/3πr³
⇒ (22/7*2.5*2.5*9) + (2*2/3*22/7*2.5*2.5*2.5)
⇒ (1237.5/7) + (1375/21)
⇒ 176.785 + 65.476
⇒ 242.261 cu mm
