a metal cube of age 12 cm is melted and form into three smaller cube if the ages of two smaller cubes are 6 cm and 8 cm find the edge of third smaller cubre.

Question have little bit typing errors. It will not be age but it will be edge.

Edge of the Metal Cube = 12 cm.

∴ Volume of the Metal cube = 12³ = 1728 cm³

As per as Question, It is melted and then recasted into 3 smaller cubes.

∴ Sum of Volume of three cubes = 6³ + 8³ + a³

where, a is the edge of the third smaller tube in which the given metal cube is recasted.

We know that Volume of the Metal cube = Sum of Volume of the 3 cubes.

∴ 1728 = 216 + 512 + a³

⇒ a³ = 1728 - 728

∴ a³ = 1000

⇒ a = 10 cm.

Hence, the edge of the third cube is 10 cm.

let the edge of third cube be x.

Now,

Edge of the Metal Cube = 12 cm.

therefore, Volume of the Metal cube = 12³ = 12×12×12 = 1728 cm³

According to questions,

So,

therefore, Sum of Volume of three cubes = 6³ + 8³ + x³.

now,

Volume of the Metal cube = Sum of Volume of the 3 cubes.

∴ 1728 = 216 + 512 + x³

X³ = 1728 - 728

X = 10 cm.

Hence, the edge of third cube is 10cm.
