Equivalent mass of any element is related to it's molecular mass as

Equivalent mass=Atomic mass/n-factor…(1)

From it's oxide formula MxOy ,it is clear that it's valency or n-factor as both are same for metals is 2y/x because valency of O is 2.

Using equation (1) we get

ATOMIC MASS =n-factor *Equivalent mass

=2yE/x
