a metal oxide is reduced by heating it in a steam of hydrogen. it is found that after complete reduction 3.15 gram of the oxide yields 1.05 gram of the metal.we conclude that a)atomic weight of the metal is 4.b) Equivalent weight of the metal is 8.c) Equivalent weight of the metal is 4.d) atomic weight of the metal is 8

Answer:

WM=Weight  of  metal

Wo= Weight  of  oxygen

WM=Equivalent  weight  of  metal

WM=1.05g                       WO=3.15−1.05=2.10g

EM=WM×8WO=1.05×82.10=4

So the equivalent weight of the metal is 4.

hope it helps

Answer:

D

Explanation:

we know that there is no metal with atomic mass of 8 and helium doesn’t form oxide . so the answer can be calculated by the following method:

mass of metal/massof oxygen(both given in ques.)= eq. mass of metal (E) /eq.mass of oxygen (i.e.8)

1.05 / (3.15-1.05) =E/8

E=4
