Given:-

  • A metal pipe 154cm long,

  • It has an outer radius of 5 cm and an inner radius of 4cm.

To Find:-

  • What is the volume of metal used to make the pipe?

Solution:-

Let's take outer radius of as R.

Let's take inner radius as r.

According to the question we have!

H = 154cm

R = 5cm

r = 4cm

Outer volume of cylinder = πR^2h

= 22/7 × (5)^2 × 154

= 12,100cm^3____(1)

Inner Volume of cylinder = πr^2h

= 22/7 × (4)^2 × 154

= 7744cm^3____(2)

The volume of metal used to make pipe

= Outer volume - Inner volume

[ Subtracting (2) from (1) ]

= 12,100cm^3 - 7744cm^3

= 4356cm^3

Hence,the volume of metal used to make the pipe is 4356cm^3.
