A metal pipe, cylindrical in shape, is of diameter 2 cm and length 10 cm. It is melted and recast into a
wire of diameter 2.5 mm. Find the length of the wire so obtained.

Cylindrical Pipe

  • Radius (R) = 1cm
  • Height(H) = 10cm

Cylindrical Wire

  • Radius(r) = 1/8 cm

The Volume of metal pipe = The volume of wire

πR²H = πr²h

(1)² × 10 = (1/8)² h

10 = 1/64 h

h           =  10 × 64

         h = 640 cm

Hence, the length of the wire is 640cm.
