Dear Akhil,

◆ Answer -

α = 1.55×10^-5 /℃

◆ Explanation -

# Given -

L° = 1.8 m

l = 1.4 mm = 1.4×10^-3 m

T1 = 0 ℃

T2 = 50 ℃

# Solution -

Let α be the coefficient of linear expansion for the metal.

l = L°α∆T

Substituting values,

1.4×10^-3 = 1.8 × α × (50 - 0)

α = 1.4×10^-3 ÷ 90

α = 1.55×10^-5 /℃

Hence, coefficient of linear expansion of metal is 1.55×10^-5 /℃.

Hope this helped you.
