Due to oxidation, the copper becomes green in exposure of air and it polished according to the color to prevent the oxidation.

This quickly denotes the green substance as it is called Patina and thus oxidation that is responsible for this change with green in exposure of air.

This is considering as patina which is responsible for changing to Cu+O2.
