Answer:
The reaction involved between both compond can be shown as follows--->
Fe2O3(s) + 2Al(s) ------> 2Fe(l) +Al2O3(s) +Heat
Iron(III)Oxide+ Aluminium Powder (Strong reducing Agent)-----> Iron Metal(Molten State)+Aluminium Oxide+Heat
The source of heat here is Magnesium ribbon which is heated that produces a lot of heat
Element x= Aluminium (in powder form)
Element y= Magnesium(Ribbon)
Please Note--->This type of chemical reaction is also known as Thermite reaction

Hey mate,
- Here X and Y are Aluminum and Iron[III] oxide (Fe2O3)
- When this reaction occur then large amount of heat is evolved due to which the metals are produced in molten state.
- Fe2O3 + 2Al -- 2Fe + Al2O3 + Heat
- This reaction is also known as thermite reaction.
Hope it help !!
