The metal X is mercury.It is occurred in the form of mercury sulphide i.e. cinnabar.

It is first oxidised i.e. roasting is done then the equation becomes

HgS + O2 -----> HgO + SO2

And then HgO can be heated with coke and then mercury and carbon monoxide is obtained, where CO is poisonous gas but a cheap material for extraction also it pollutes the metal. The equation for what I said above is given below -

HgO + C --------> Hg + CO

And thus mercury is obtained. If my answer helped you please mark it brainiest.

The metal X which is liquid at room temprature is Mercury.

It occurs in the form of its sulphide ore as Mercury Oxide (HgS).

The steps for the extraction of this metal are -

1. The metal is in the form of suphide ore so we need to do the process of roasting.

Roasting is the process of extraction of metal ore in the presence of excess air.

So the equation becomes -

2HgS + 3O2 ------> 2HgO + 2SO2

Now the mercury is in the form of its oxide so this can be just heated to get murcury metal. The equation for that is given below -

2HgO --------> 2Hg + O2

And hence mercury is extracted.

Hope my answer helped you if so, plz mark it as brainliest.
