A metallic conductor is suspended perpendicular to the magnetic field of a horseshoe magnet .The conductor gets displaced towards left when a current is passed through it .What will happen to the displacement of the conductor if the :
1. current through it is increased ?
2. horseshoe magnet is replaced by another stronger horseshoe magnet ?
3. direction of current through it is reversed ?

Answer:

1) conductor will displace more towards right

2) conductor will displace more towards right

3) Conductor will displaced to left

Explanation:

As we know that when current flows into the conductor then it produce its own magnetic field along the axis

Due to this magnetic field it will exert force on the another nearby magnetic materials and this interaction will give the conductor displacement

i) When current in the conductor is increased then magnetic field becomes more strong. Due to this strong field the conductor will be displaced more towards left

ii) When horse shoe magnet is replaced by another strong magnet then the force of interaction between coil and magnet will be more strong and hence it will displace by more magnitude towards left

iii) When current in the conductor is reversed then the force will be in opposite direction so the conductor will displace towards right

Explanation:

1. If the current through it is increased then the impact of displacement will be increased towards the same direction i.e., left

2.the impact of deflection (displacement) will be seen here

3. the conductor will deflect or displace to the right instead of left
