This is due to iron. A metallic piece X is iron nail since iron is more reactive than copper , it displaces copper from copper sulphate solution and become iron sulphate solution and the iron nail get a brown red deposit.

Hope it helps

adi200627: I want to know the type of change
neha1514: This is a displacement reaction.

this activity is as follows first. Take two Iron nails and clean them by rubbing with Sandpaper second. Take two test tubes and mark them as Aand B. Take about 10 ml of copper sulphate solution in each test tube dip one Iron nail in copper sulphate solution of test tube A and keep it undisturbed for 20 minutes Fourth. Keep the other iron nail and test tube aside 6th compare the colours of the solutions in the test tubes seventh.we will find the iron nail dipped in copper sulphate solution becoming brown the blue colour of copper sulphate solution in test tube A fades. eighth chemical reaction is ferrous + copper sulphate gives rise to ferrous sulphate + copper. ninth iron is more reactive than copper so it displaces copper from copper sulphate this is a displacement reaction

adi200627: I don't want to know the activity. I just want to know the type of change.
