The volume of the open box.

We have,

  • Length of the metallic rectangular sheet,l= 48cm
  • Breadth of the metallic rectangular sheet,b= 36cm

When a square 8cm is cutoff from the rectangular sheet, we get;

⇒ New length of the rectangular sheet= [48- (2×8)]cm

⇒ New length of the rectangular sheet= [48- 16]cm

⇒ New length of the rectangular sheet= 32cm

⇒ New breadth of the rectangular sheet= [36-(2×8)]cm

⇒ New breadth of the rectangular sheet= [36-16]cm

⇒ New breadth of the rectangular sheet= 20cm

  • Height of the rectangular sheet is 8cm.

We know that, volume of the cuboid = lbh cubic units

Therefore,

The volume of the open box= Length × Breadth× Height

⇒ The volume of the open box= [32 × 20 ×8]cm³

The volume of the open box= 5120cm³.
