A metallic wire of resistance R is cut into ten parts of equal length. Two pieces each are joined in series and then five such combinations are joined in parallel. What will be the effective resistance of the combination?

after dividing resistance of each wire will be R/10 in series resistance will be R/10+R/10=R/5 now in parallel resistance will be 50/R now effective resistance will be 11/50R

Resistance of 10 equal parts=1/10R
Resistance of two 1/10 parts joined
in series =1/5R
let equivalent resistance be Rp
1/Rp=1/1/5R*5
1/Rp=25R
Rp=1/25R
