A meteor falling towards the earth starts burning because Earth is surrounded by many gases and air and these gases and air makes earth’s atmosphere.

When meteor falling towards the earth, it enters in the ‘earth’s atmosphere’. Then mentor hit these gases and air of the earth atmosphere.

As a result a friction occurs between the meteor and the atmosphere of earth and due to this friction force meteor falling towards the earth starts burning.
