As fresh milk pH is 6 which is slightly acidic in nature. To prevent milk from souring(spoiling) , milkman adds small amount of baking soda too fresh milk .By doing so , he shifts the milk pH to above 7 that is slightly alkaline.

Answer:

Becoz baking soda is a base which reacts with acids and neutralizes it. This prevents milk from getting sour and keeping it fresh for long time . So ,pH changes from 6+o 4.5-5.5

Hope it help you ✌️❣️
