Step-by-step explanation:
Given A milk vendor mixes water with milk in the ratio 1:4, he then measure 800 ml instead of a litre and sells the milk at a nominal profit of 20% over the cost price what is his actual profit percentage
Let the cost price of pure milk be Rs 10 / litre.
So water = 200 ml
Milk = 800 ml
Therefore quantity of pure milk vendor sells = 0.8 x 800
= 640 ml
Therefore C.P = 640 / 1000 x 10
= Rs 6.4
Selling price = 120 % of 10 = Rs 12
Now profit = S.P – C.P
= 12 – 6.4
= Rs 5.6
Also profit percent = 5.6 / 6.4 x 100
= 87.5%
