. A mineral having the formula AB
crystallizes in the ccp lattice with the A
atoms occupying the lattice points.
Fraction of the tetrahedral sites
occupied by B atoms is:
(A) 50%
(B) 75%
(C) 100%
(D) 66.67%

Answer:. Option A

Explanation:

Since A crystallises in lattice form, so number of A atoms will be 4.

Now, A and B are present in the same ratio. So number of B atoms will also be 4.

No of tetrahedral voids in CCP lattice are 8 out of which 4 are occupied.

So fraction of tetrahedral voids occupied by B will be

4/8*100

=50%

I hope this helps you in the best possible way.

Incase if it's still not clear please let me know.

Explanation:

Z=4

as formula = AB

A are at lattice point so,

no. of A atom 8 and Tetrahedral void 8

B are at tetrahedral void,

so, no. of B atoms

so, the tetrahedral sites

occupied by B atoms is. c) 100%

hope it will help you.
