Given:-

  • Length of mirror = 30cm
  • Width of mirror = 25cm
  • Mirror is to be framed with 4cm wide frame

To find:-

  • Area of frame
  • Cost of framing at rate of ₹ 25 per cm²

Solution:-

Given that the mirror is to be framed with 4cm wide frame.

So the frame is increased by 4cm on both sides.

Total length of frame=length of mirror+4+4

⇒length of mirror + 2(4)

⇒ 30 + 8 = 38 cm

Total breadth of frame=width of mirror+4+4

⇒width of mirror +2(4)

⇒  25 + 8 = 33 cm

Using the formula,

Area = length × breadth

Area of mirror:-

⇒ l × b

⇒ 30×25

⇒ 750cm²

Total area:-

⇒l×b

⇒33×38

⇒1254cm²

Area of frame used:-

⇒ Total area - area of mirror

⇒ 1254 - 750

504cm²

Cost of framing:-

⇒25×(area of frame)

⇒25×504

Rs.12600

Hence,

Area of frame is 504cm²

Cost of framing is Rs.12600
