Let the original quantity of milk and water be 8x and 3x Respectively.

  • Milk amount = 8x
  • Water amount = 3x

After adding Extra amount of 3 litres of water to the mixture.

»Final Quantity of Water becomes (3x + 3).

→ 8x/(3x + 3) = 2/1

→ 8x = 2(3x + 3)

→ 8x = 6x + 6

→ 8x - 6x = 6

→ 2x = 6

→ x = 6/2

→ x = 3

Hence,

  • Original quantity of Milk = 24 litres
  • Original quantity of Water = 9 litres
