A mixture of 1 mol of Aluminum and 3 mols of chlorine has are allowed to react as
2Al+ 3Cl2 ----> 2AlCl3
1) what is the limiting reagent?

I) Aluminium  II) 1 mole

Explanation:

1) By looking at the chemical equation, one can observe that 2 mol of Al reacts with 3 mol of Cl.But in given condition, only 1 mol of Al is present for reaction.Hence its concentration decides the end point of reaction.(to check stoichiometry is just a shortcut method).

2) 2 mol of Al give 2 mol of AlCl3. So 1 mol of Al will give 1 mol of AlCl3
