Answer:

10 Litre of Water is used

Step-by-step explanation:

A mixture of 140 liters is prepared  by mixing wine and rum in 2: 5 Ratio

Wine = 140 * 2/(2 + 5)  = 40 Litre

Rum = 140 * 5/(2 + 5) = 100 Litre

Alcohol in Wine = 42.5 %

Alcohol in 40 litre wine = 40 * 42.5/100 = 17 Litre

Alcohol in Rum = 25 %

Alcohol in 100 litre Rum = 25 * 100/100 = 25 Litre

Total Alcohol = 17 + 25 = 42 Litre

Total Mixture = 140 litre

Alcohol %  = 100 * 42/140  = 30 %

To dilute the mixture by 2% => alcohol % = 28 %

Let say W litre Water is added then

28   = 100 *  42 /(140 + W)

=> 2 = 100 * 3/(140 + W)

=> 140 + W  = 150

=> W = 10

10 Litre of Water is used
