A mixture of one mole each of O2 , H2 and He exits in a container of volume V at temperature T. in which partial pressure of H2 is 2 atm.
To find : The total pressure in the container is..
solution : according to Dalton's law of partial pressure,
when two or more non - reactive gas is mixed in a container, then total pressure in the container must be sum of partial pressure of each of gas.
i.e., P = P₁ + P₂ + P₃ ...
here three gases present in the same amount in a container at same pressure.
so, partial pressure of H2 = particle pressure of O2 = partial pressure of He = 2atm
now total pressure = P₁ + P₂ + P₃
= 2 atm + 2 atm + 2 atm
= 6 atm
Therefore the total pressure in the container is 6 atm.
