A mixture of oxygen and ethyne is burnt for welding and not a mixture of ethyne and air. Why ?

Ethane is burnt in air incomplete burning that hand takes place and also produces sooty flame due to the limited supply oxygen present in the air.

Apart this oxyacetylene flame is used for the welding.

It is not applicable to attain such a high temperature with presence air.

Due to this reason a mixture of ethane and air is not used for welding.
