Homogeneous mixture is a mixture of two substances that is completely even throughout the solution and there are no borders inbetween substances. It looks like one new substance.

The sugar-water is a homogenous mixture while the sand-water is a heterogeneous mixture. Both are mixtures, but only the sugar-water can also be called a solution.
