Number of pencil he sold = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,Total number of items= 22

Cost of pencil = Rs.15

Cost of ball pen =Rs.20

Total Amount of Sale = Rs.380

Let the number of pencil = x

Number of ball pen = 22-x

Here,Total cost of pencil = \bold {x\times 15}

                                         = Rs.15x

Total cost of ball pen = (22-x)\times 20

                                    =Rs.20(22-x)

Now,According to question,

Total cost of items  = Total cost of pencil + Total cost of ball pen

380 =  15x+20(22-x)

380=15x+440-20x

-60=-5x

x= 12

So,Number of pencil he sold = 12
