A money box contains one rupee and two rupee coins in the ratio 5:6.

Let one rupee coin be 5M and two rupee coin be 6M.

Total number of coins in box = Rs. 85

According to question,

One rupee coin + Two rupee coin = Total coins in the money box.

  • One rupee coin = 5M
  • Two rupee coin = 2 × 6M = 12M

Substitute the known values in above formula

⇒ 5M + 12M = 85

⇒ 17M = 85

⇒ M = 85/17

⇒ M = 5

So,

One rupee coin = 5M

⇒ 5(5)

25

Two rupee coin = 12M

⇒ 12(5)

60

Verification

One rupee coin + Two rupee coin = Total number of coins in money box

We have ..

Two rupee coin = 60

Total number of coins = 85

Substitute the known values in above formula
