According to question,

The monkey ascends 3m = +3m
and it slips 1m = -1

For first 2 minutes, 0+3-1 = 2

then,                       2+3-1 = 4

                               4+3-1 = 6

                               6+3-1 = 8

                               8+3-1 = 10

After 10 minutes the monkey will be at 10 m
For the last 1 minute it will ascend another 3m = 10+3 
                                                                       = 13m

Therefore total time taken = 10+1
                                          = 11 minutes
