so, monkey climbs (5 - 3) = 2 steps up in 8 sec.

[∵ each step = 1 m and time takes to cover 1 step = 1 sec ]

every 8 seconds monkey climbs 2 m up, so in 48 seconds, monkey climbs 12m

now next fives seconds, monkeys covers 5m and it is going to reach at the top of the tree.

so the total time by monkey to reach at the top of the tree = 48 sec + 5 sec = 53 sec.
