Given:

A monkey sits on a branch off the ground = 18 \frac{1}{2} feet.

The monkey swings the branch = 12 feet.

The monkey climbs down = 4 \frac{1}{4} feet.

To find:

We need to find the monkey is how much far from the ground.

Solution:

The monkey sits on the branch = 18 \frac{1}{2} feet.

Now, the monkey swings up 12 feet ⇒ 18 \frac{1}{2} + 12 feet

Here, we need to add the terms,

                     =    18 \frac{1}{2} + 12 feet

                     =     21 feet

Now, the monkey climbs down 4\frac{1}{4}

                     ⇒ 21 - 4\frac{1}{4}

Here, we need to substract the terms

                     ⇒ 20 feet.

The monkey is 20 feet far from the ground.
