total number of electrons =36

therefore the atomic number is 36 which is krypton

number of neutrons=45

therefore mass of the ion will be number of electrons+number of neutrons
=36+45
= 81

Adarshthakur11: yes i do
Dolly09: but i get the answer
Adarshthakur11: so whats the correct answer
Dolly09: correct answer is :- atumic number=35 and nass number = 80
Dolly09: the answer which u gave is wrong...
Adarshthakur11: really how can the mass number of ion be 80 when the number of electrons are 36 and number of neutrons are 45
varandeepsahota: because mass no. does not depend upon no. of electrons
Adarshthakur11: do u know what does a negative sign means???
Adarshthakur11: woooooo
varandeepsahota: mass no. = no. of protons + no. of electrons

47

atomic number =  35 = Br(it has 45 neutrons )
mass number = no of protons + no. of neutrons
                         =35 + 45 = 80

this is Br- ion as it has 35+1 electrons and 45 neutrons
