A monochromatic ray of light is incident on a prism of refractive angle 60°, at a certain angle.
The refractive index of the material of the prism in 1.55. Find the angle of incidence, if the ray
of light can just emerge from the other surface.

Answer:

since its refractive angle at 60 degree it is a case of minimum deviation

so R=A/2

=60/2

=30

now we know that

refractive index =sin i/sinr

1.55=sini/sinr

sin i =1.55 * sin r

sini= 1.55*sin30

sin i=1.55*1/2

sin i=0.775

sin i=sin 50.8

so i=50.8
