Moss (funaria) is a plant that belongs to the division of bryophyta of the plant kingdom. Bryophyta are also known as the amphibians of the plant kingdom as they require water for sexual reproduction. In the absence of water, it can not reproduce and therefore complete its lifecycle.

The sperm of the bryophyte requires water to swim to the egg in order to fertilize it.
