Step-by-step explanation:

Let mother's contribution be = ₹x

Then,

  • Elder daughter's contribution = ₹3x/8
  • Younger daughter's contribution = ₹x/2

Also,

Total contribution = ₹62,000

So, according to the question,

₹62,000 = ₹x + ₹x/2 + ₹3x/8

Solving this equation...

₹x = 33,066.66 = Mother's contribution (ANS-1)

₹x/2 = Younger daughter's contribution = ₹16,533.33 (ANS-2)

₹3x/8 = Elder daughter's contribution = ₹12,400 (ANS-3)

Fun fact : When you learn these kind of equations its kinda hard to get the concept! You always think of x as the total (Here: 62,000) even if you know it isn't! Always try to think the variable lower or higher before starting the question!
