Given :

A mother and her two daughters got a room constructed for Rs 62,000. The elder daughter contributes 3/8 of her mother's contribution while her younger daughter contributes 1/2 of her mother's share.

To Find :

How much do the three contribute individually ?

Solution :

Let mother contribute = x

Elder daughter contribute = 3/8*x = 3x/8

younger daughter contribute = x/2

Total contribution = 62000

According to the given question -

=> x+3x/8+x/2=62000

=> (8x+3x+4x)/8=62000

=> 15x/8=62000

=> 15x=496000

=> x=496000/15

=> x=33067 .

Hence , mother contribute = 33067

Elder daughter contribute= 33067*3/8=12400

Younger daughter contribute= 33067/2=16533
