Given :- A mother divides 36 sweets between her children "A" and "B" such that half of the share of "A" is three less than the share of "B".
To Find :- Share of B ?
A) 12
B) 9
C) 14
D) 7 .
Solution :-
Let us assume that, share of A is a and share of B is b.
Now, we have given that,
→ Half of share of A = 3 less than share of B .
So,
→ (a/2) = b - 3
→ a = 2(b - 3)
→ a = 2b - 6
→ 2b - a = 6 --------- Eqn.(1)
Also, total sweets are 36.
So,
→ a + b = 36 --------- Eqn.(2)
Adding Eqn.(1) and Eqn.(2) we get,
→ 2b - a + a + b = 36 + 6
→ 3b = 42
dividing both sides by 3,
→ b = 14. (Ans.) (Option C) .
Hence, share of B is 14 sweets.
