and son age be y.

TEN YEARS AGO

Mother age= x-10

Son age= y-10

ATQ

3(Y-10)=X-10

3Y -30=X-10

3Y-X=20.........(1)

AND WE KNOW THAT.

MOTHER AGE IS 20 YEARS MORE THAN SONS AGE

THEREFORE,

X-Y=20

X=20+Y........(2)

USING 2 IN 1

3Y-X=20

3Y-20-Y=20

Y=20

AND X=40 FROM (1)

MOTHER'S AGE= 40 years

SON'S AGE= 20 years
