A mother is 32 years older than her son. In 4 years the mothers age will be 8 years more than twice that of her son. Find the present ages

let age of mother be X and son be y
according to 1st condition
X - y = 32
X=32+y(1)
according to 2nd condition
X+8=2y+4
X-2y=4-8
X-2y=-4(2)
substituting X=y+32 in (2)
:we get 32+y-2y=-4
:y-2y = -4-32
:. -y=-36
:y=36
substituting y=36 in (1)
:we get X=36+32
: X= 68
:mother age=X=68
and son age=y=36
