A mother is 5 times older than her daughter, after 5 years, she would be 3 times older than her daughter ,find mothers age??

Answer 1

let mother's age be x years
and that of daughter's age be y years
ATQ

x = 5y
also, x+5 = 3(y+5)

x+5 = 3y + 15
putting x = 5y in above equation

5y +5= 3y +15
5y - 3y = 15 - 5
2y = 10
hence y = 5 years

putting y = 5 in x=5y
x = 5(5)
x = 25 years
