the poem “Rain on the roof” written by Coates Kinney, the poet beautifully describes the subtility and calmness that he enjoys as the rain pours down.
The poet is then taken aback to his childhood where his mother’s serenity would make him fall asleep calmly. Therefore the correlation of the rain’s and mother’s calmness is talked about.
He remembers having no trouble falling asleep when he used to be with his mother as she would sacrifice all her work and sleep to make sure he was asleep.
The narrator, therefore, misses his mother and finds peace in the fact that rains provide him joy.
