Answer:

Mother: 30

Daughter: 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of the daughter be x.

Five years ago, age of the daughter was x - 5 and the mother was 5 times old as her, that is, she was 5×(x-5) years old back then. So at present, that is, after the 5 years, the mother's age is {5 × (x - 5)} + 5 = 5x - 20 ....eqn(i)

Ten years later, the daughter will be x + 10 years old and the mother will be 2 × (x + 10). So at present, that is 10 years prior to this future time, her mother has to be {2 × (x + 10)} - 10 = 2x + 10 .... eqn (ii)

Comparing the mother's present age obtained from equations (i) and (ii),

5x - 20 = 2x + 10

Solving, x = 10.

That is, the present age of the daughter is 10.

the present age of the daughter is 10.And the present age of her mother is, 30.

Check:

5 years back

daughter's age: 5

mother's age: 25 which is 5 times 5

10 years hence

daughter's age: 20

mother's age: 40 which is twice 20

Hence, correct!
