Given : A motor bike was originally listed at $769.99.

The Price was first discounted to $550.54, followed by a final discounted price of $449.79.

To Find : What was the single equivalent rate of discounted at the final  price

Solution:

Original Price = $769.99

Final Price = $449.79

Net Discount = 769.99 - 449.79

= 320.20 $

single equivalent rate of discounted = (320.2/769.99) * 100

= 41.585 %

Question :- A motor bike was originally listed at $769.99. The price was first discounted to $550.54, followed by a final discounted price of $449.79. What was the single equivalent rate of discount at the final price ?

Solution :-

→ Original price of motor bike = $769.99 .

→ Price after first discount = $550.54 .

so,

→ first discount = 769.99 - 550.54 = $219.45 .

then,

→ % discount = (219.45 * 100) / 769.99 = 28.5% .

similarly,

→ Price of motor bike after first discount = $550.54 .

→ Price after second discount = $449.79 .

so,

→ second discount = $550.54 - $449.79 = $100.75 .

then,

→ % discount = (100.75 * 100) / 550.54 = 18.3% .

therefore,

→ Single equivalent rate of discount = -A - B + AB/100 = (-28.5) - (18.3) + (28.5 * 18.3)/100 = -46.8 + 5.2155 = -41.58 = 41.58% (Ans.)

Hence, the single equivalent rate of discount at the final price is 41.58% .
