you mean you want to know about the distance travelled by the boat during its next 8 seconds after 8 seconds? Then the initial velocity is not zero....
Initial velocity= 24
acceleration=3
time= 8 seconds
Formula- S=ut+ 1/2 at^2
you get the distance= 288 metre
