it is given that a convex mirror is fitted on a first motor car.

focal length of convex mirror , f = +20cm

distance of second car from mirror , u = -6m = -600 cm

using mirror formula,

1/v + 1/u = 1/f

or, 1/v + 1/-600 = 1/20

or, 1/v = 1/20 + 1/600

or, 1/v = 30/600 + 1/600

or, 1/v = 31/600

or, v = 600/29 = 19.35

hence, position of image of second car is 19.35 cm. since, mirror is convex image will be virtual and diminished.

size of image = magnification × size of object

= (-v/u) × 1.6m [ height of object is 1.6m]

= (-19.35/600) × 1.6 × 100 cm

= -19.35 × 1.6/6

= 5.16 cm

Answer:

position = 19.35

and

size = 5.16 cm

Explanation:

f=20cm

v=-6m = -600cm

1/v=1/u=1/f

1/v+1/600=1/20

1/v=1/20+1/600

1/v=30/600+1/600

1/v=29/600

v=19.25 and

size of image * magnification *size of object

(-v/u)*1.6m*100

(-19.35/600)*1.6*100

-19.25*1.6/6

= 5.16cm

hence the size of image is 5.16

Hope I help you
